Colorful Bedding shoot and some cool news

This week it was photography time for my bedding line with Swedish photographer Anna Maria Noellert in LA. It’s been a long time since we properly photographed it, (not even the new designs!), since we’ve been super busy with interior design clients. This fall I decided to slow down our client work so we can focus on improving the brand in every way possible.

The bedding is super cute and has amazing quality and I was happy that I still felt it really fulfills the purpose I aimed for when I started the line. (Above is a sneak peak of the new design coming soon called VICTORY to the left and two of the happiest versions of TAKES TWO.

The purpose of the bedding was to make decorating easy. I wanted a bed set to add all the design element needed in a bedroom. This way you people would not fret about how to decorate and not have to spend money on unnecessary things.

This is the Takes Two pattern in a few of the colorways. I combined two colors that I would design a room in.

It’s an Art Deco inspired pattern which is one of my favorite design styles.

Shooting bedding is definitely not the easiest thing because of the endless ironing!

Thankfully Sury stepped in to help out.

We collaborated with another Swede Jennifer who has the super clever and adorable company Bag-All who make reusable and organizing bags.

With the purchase of a duvet set and shams we will now be able to send our customers this super cute bag along with it. It will also be perfect to reuse as a casual bag or reusable grocery bag which is the concept behind Bag-all to reuse.

My Top 10 headboards for the anti minimalist

With all that is going on in the world today I thought you, like me, might need an escape from the world news for a bit and dive in to something more comforting – my round up of  imaginative and affordable headboards.

I think the bedroom is the most important space in the house. Its your sanctuary where you can retreat from the world and re energize. Comfort is key and a headboard adds the perfect create comfort for your back and head when reading, watching television or working (who doesn’t?) in bed.  They also add a cool design element as well as a focal point in the room.

Here are my TOP 11!  super affordable picks in fun modern patterns and shapes.

To make these headboards even more perfect I would add the bedding below. The retro colorways and shapes would be dreamy together with the fresh hotel bedding. The pink with the gray bedding, the forest green heaboards with the powder pink. Really any of the headboards above mix and match with this bedding.

One Room Challenge – Week 2

It’s Wednesday again and One Room Challenge time.

I’m happy to have the the help of my great office manager Emily and intern Jessica to pull the makeover off in time. My work schedule is booked solid and the support is crucial.

The master bedroom has a newly built deck outside the sliding doors with new banana leaf plants and black and white striped lounge furniture soon to arrive.

The plan for the room is something along these lines…


The bedroom is spacious so there will be plenty of seating…and loads of yellow.


I hung a Kelly Wearstler light fixture in the room a couple of weeks back that needed adjusting and fixing..



The bedroom already have this mid century dresser from Midcentury LA.


The bottom part of the wall has been painted a dark tan.


The casing around doors and windows have been painted black.

However… I’m thinking of evening adding even more black trim.

I’m developing my own line of wallpaper, and this Art Deco Arches wall paper in tan I’m thinking on using in here. We are in sample hell, but hopefully it will be sorted out so we can use it in here.


My new Midcentury Modern headboard in navy velvet with black piping was just completed.

The low slung mid century thing is a new vibe for me but a must for this house…


The headboard comes in a few retro colors, but this house is all about blue so I selected the indigo blue headboard.



The bedroom has a L-O-N-G way to go and things are just being ordered.

But I’m committed to the ORC deadline!

My new living room rug- the geometric shag

My living room carpet finally arrived, and it was worth the wait.

It’s my first design of a line of geometric shags for my Jill Sorensen Lifestyle. It’s super soft underfoot with just enough modern as well as organic vibe.  I’m happy!

For our living room I used a cream base with a dark brown pattern, but these shags will also be available with cobalt,  jade green and black patterns.

With all this creamy softness, I can’t wait to paint the living room walls blue.

My bedding in delicious new colors

Hope you had a great Easter weekend!

Color as some of you know is something I can’t get enough of.

I’m happy to let you know that a few weeks ago we started offering the bedding in 18 custom colors. Designers and customers have e-mailed for a long time and requested certain colors so I’m happy to finally be able to offer endless design possibilities with the bedding.

My new dining room carpet & kitchen wallpaper

The new rug design for our dining room has finally arrived!  Before I could even unpack it my two dogs of course had to sit on it. Not sure why dogs always have to do that?

The carpet is the first item in a slightly new design direction that I’m are doing that I’m very excited about. It’s a little bit ethnic/modern/ranch inspired and the perfect mate to our open kitchen.


It’s called the ARROW Carpet.

The dogs approved…


..and were not happy when I asked them to move.

The cotton carpet is going to go underneath the dining table which will go right next to the kitchen island.

For now the carpet will be rolled up and put away while we wait for the dining table.

I’m excited to see how it will not only blend with the kitchen, but also with my new grass cloth wallpaper.

The Canary Tropical Bamboo which is my first attempt at a wallpaper design will go on the wall next to the big white tile wall.

Navy Key Bedding in a Palm Beach chic nursery

It’s so inspiring to see the great style the Jill Sorensen Lifestyle customers have.

If you followed the One Room Challenge you might already have seen this Palm Beach Regency nursery designed by  Andrea of the blog The Glam Pad, but I just have to post it here.

How fun it was to open up Domino Magazine’s e-mail only to find our Black Key shams in a hip bedroom designed by one of the Homepolish designers.

How exciting!! My bedding on ELLEN TV!

Now this is fun!

I looove Ellen de Generes, and now I love her even more after catching my bedding in one of the Houzz makeovers on Ellen TV.  People with bedrooms in dire need of a makeover could e-mail in to the show and Houzz would send a designer to make it over. I’m thrilled that the designer selected the Jill Sorensen Lifestyle Grey Lucky bedding!!
